LEEEEET’S GEEEEET REAAAAADY TOOOOO RUUUUUMBLE! Megarom, Orena, and SteelSeries have triple-teamed up to present the “Overwatch Seasonal Ladder” competition for local PC and PS4 players, with a splishy-splashy R30,000 prize pool up for the win. Jump in!

The tournament ladder spans three seasons of daily matches, with a R10,000 winner-takes-all prize for each one:

  • Season 1: 13 June – 1 August [PC]
  • Season 2: 8 August – 3 October [PS4]
  • Season 3: 10 October – 5 December [PC]

Matches will be broadcast live on Orena’s Twitch channel every Monday and Wednesday, with Kyle “Congo” Wolmarans and Lutz “crazymonkey” Ngqkakaza on shoutcast duty. The tournament’s rules can be read over here, and don’t prohibit Bastion. Ha, ha, ha.

Teams can enter at any time, but the organisers suggest getting in there as soon as possible “to secure your top spot and challenge other teams”.

“We’re ecstatic to have Overwatch as an official title on the Orena ranking system. With this being the first Blizzard title on the Orena platform, we look forward to dealing with something fresh and that has been so well received on the eSports circuit,” sez Orena boss Luca Tucconi in the press stuff. “With the support of our prestigious event partners at SteelSeries, we envision an epic start to what looks to become a staple in the competitive gaming market”.
