Rumors have been abound for months now that Sony is planning a refresh for their console, and Sony EU executive Andrew House just confirmed it in an interview with Financial Times. The console won’t launch at E3 2016 and might not even be shown there, but it is intended to compliment the current PS4 model and will sell alongside it at a higher price for the remainder of the PS4’s life cycle. House confirmed that the Neo is meant to open up access to 4K media, and is intended to “ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety.”
Before you go nuts, grab a cup of tea and read our thoughts about the Neo’s existence here, here, and here. It won’t make your current PS4 obsolete, but it will make it less attractive to new buyers. Don’t forget that Microsoft is also rumored to be doing exactly the same thing, so who knows?
