DOOM update DLC

Hey, have you played the new Doom yet? I bet you have. It’s awesome, isn’t it? Of course it is.

Bethesda has released a video showcasing the game’s latest free update, as well as an excruciatingly short glimpse of the game’s first paid multiplayer DLC titled Unto the Evil. There’s also a double XP weekend that kicks off today (29 July) and runs until Sunday.

The first free update included a few cool things, most notably the ability to centre your weapons OG Doom style. The second update is a bit beefier. It launches today and includes two new multiplayer modes, a few tweaks, and a few things that should make users of SnapMap very happy.

What makes the video all the more hype-inducing is the confirmation of a release date for Doom‘s first premium DLC. Unto the Evil will be out on 5 August, and according to the video’s description will include “three new multiplayer maps, a brand-new playable demon called The Harvester, a new weapon (the EMG Mark V pistol), the new Kinetic Mine equipment, a bad-ass robotic armor set with new customization options, new hack modules, taunts and more”.

The DLC also brings a new feature called PartyPlay, which will allow you and others in your party to play DLC maps as long as at least one of you owns the DLC.

It sounds cool and all, but personally, I’m waiting for DLC that expands the game’s single-player campaign.
