Just enough time has passed for me to start forgiving Ubisoft for the superbly disappointing Watch Dogs. At least they’re making Watch Dogs 2 seem a whole lot better than the first.
There’s a new gameplay trailer making the rounds, and it’s pretty hefty at over 19 minutes. In it, the game’s animation director gives us a detailed look at some of the new and improved features coming to Watch Dogs 2, like better hacking, better driving, better multiplayer, BETTER EVERYTHING.
“In this new demonstration, a small slice of the expansive San Francisco Bay Area is explored, as Marcus wanders through such world-famous landmarks as Coit Tower and Fisherman’s Wharf,” the video’s description reads. Along with showing off the game’s (remarkably pretty) setting, the video also explains things like “enhanced hacking and driving mechanics, use of drones, deeper customisation options and world activities”.
There are two things in the trailer that I think are really cool. First, it seems like Ubisoft listened to player feedback from the previous game, and have improved on areas that received the most flak. The driving element has been reworked with the help of Ubisoft Reflections, developers of The Crew and the Driver series, and looks like a much smoother affair because of it.
Second, the multiplayer looks amazing. The bounty system thing seems like a lot of fun, and if it plays out in the game the way it does in the video, I’ll be very impressed.
Watch Dogs 2 is set for release on 15 November 2016, and will be making its way to PC, PS4 and XBO.
