Mafia III PC system requirements revealed

With roughly three weeks to go until the launch of Mafia III, 2K Games has unveiled what your PC will need under the hood to run it. Fortunately, making a Sicilian-style pledge to The Family while a painting of the Virgin Mary watches isn’t on the list (I’ve seen too many mobster movies).

Minimum system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8120
  • RAM: 6GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD7870 GHz or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
  • VRAM: 2GB
  • HDD: 50GB free space

Recommended system requirements:

  • OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD FX 8350 or better
  • RAM: 8GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon R9 290X or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or better
  • VRAM: 4GB
  • HDD: 50GB free space

There’s some sweet artwork detailing the PC specs in the form of a ’70s advertisement, which is a neat bit of extra effort on 2K’s part.

I asked resident hardware guru Wesley Fick what he thinks of the specs, and this was his response:

“I think those minimum specs are really high, and will be unrealistic compared to what the game can actually run on. Maybe those requirements are for playing the game at 1080p with medium or high settings at around 60fps. What’s definitely a minimum requirement is a quad-core CPU, though. Anyone with a dual-core processor in their system probably won’t be able to launch the game at all.”

Mafia III hits the streets on 7 October for PC, PS4 and XBO.
