… And I missed it. I was totally thinking about maybe sort of considering it, but I worked at rAge in Cape Town back in March, and I decided one expo a year is probably enough because I’m super-duper lame like that. I’m trying to make up for that now with this glorious image of a cat floating majestically in space. Is it working? It’s not working. The FOMO is real, you guys.
Anyway, attendance at the event was up over 1500-something on last year, with a new record-smashing 34,693 visitors cramming into the TicketPro Dome over the weekend. High fives, everybody.
“eSports was massive at this year’s expo with major tournaments being played, international shoutcasters and hosts in attendance, and the introduction of Africa’s first ever eSports Branding Summit. This is the start of something big in South Africa,” said rAge marketing boss and ARK: Survival Evolved champion Lauren Das Neves in the press stuff. “In addition, the construction of the new Blue Wing Conference Centre at the Ticketpro Dome afforded us the opportunity to create a special space for artists, entrepreneurs and cosplayers to display their talents and to chill. The vibe in the main arena was electric – with major games being showcased, next-generation consoles and games on show, great cosplay demonstrated, an impressive amount of VR and AR tech for visitors to try out and 2,330 people enjoying the LAN – giving visitors a real glimpse into the future.”
And that future is happening 6-8 October 2017. The next rAge, I mean, not a robopocalypse. But that could be rad too.
