The first Tomb Raider reboot was a lot of fun, and surprisingly good, and so was Rise of the Tomb Raider. Crystal Dynamics did a really fine job of capturing all the things that made the original games so memorable.
You know who didn’t do a good job? Some guy checking out (presumably) confidential presentations on his laptop while on a public train in Montreal. A snap of said presentation taken by Redditor Tripleh280 appears to show the title of the next game in the rebooted Tomb Raider series. Hit the jump to see for yourself.
If you’re having trouble making out what’s in the top right corner of the screen there, it seems to be the title of the next Tomb Raider, and it looks to be called Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
“The page he was on talked about visuals,” the Redditor told Kotaku. “I’m from Montreal, QC. I was going downtown for work and I took a quick snap. I really would love to say more but other than the title, the rest was blurry from where I was.”
One of the website’s other inside sources subsequently confirmed the name’s authenticity, and while titles are often changed during the course of development, the presentation sure looks like the real deal.
Now, Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider were developed by San Francisco-based studio Crystal Dynamics, so why was this spotted in Montreal? Well, according to Kotaku, development of Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be headed by Square Enix-owned studio, Eidos Montreal which is based in, you guessed it, Montreal.
It all seems pretty legit, but as always with these kinds of things, a pinch of salt is recommended.
