Resident Evil 7 may have the strangest collector’s edition ever

Do you buy collector’s editions of games? Is your display shelf stocked full of statues, busts, figurines, and keychains? Well, Capcom has recently revealed the collector’s edition for the upcoming Resident Evil 7, and it’s almost guaranteed to be the strangest addition to your collection.

This is all too click-baity for my tastes, so here it is – the Collector’s Edition comes with a model house. There, now if you click “READ MORE” it will be for the writing, and not to satisfy the burning curiosity.

In a post on its company blog, Capcom showed off what super-fans can pre-order. The Collector’s Edition comes bundled with a steelbook case for the game, a USB drive in the shape of a finger, a “VHS tape box”, whatever the hell that is, a lithograph, a creepy note, and a model of the creepy mansion from the game, which is also a music box and has flashing LED lights. Personally, I’m most excited for the creepy note. Here’s what it looks like, click for full size.

The Collector’s Edition is only available for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, and the blog post announced a price point of $179.99 (roughly R2,545 locally). Keep in mind that this may not make it to South Africa, and for now it seems to be exclusive to America. Resident Evil VII Biohazard launches for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on 24 January 2017.
