PlatinumGames’ lizard-’em-up Scalebound is no more, Microsoft has confirmed, in between rumours that the relationship between the publisher and Hideki Kamiya had “dramatically soured” in recent month. In development since 2013, first announced at E3 in 2014, and expected to launch late last year, the game was subsequently delayed until 2017, and now it’s over, forever.
“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for “Scalebound,” the company announced in a statement to the press. “We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”
Microsoft has since removed the game’s page from its own website and videos from its media channels, and presumably burned them in a barrel in the backyard with all the love letters and Valentine’s Day plushie dragons while eating ice-cream straight out the tub.
