For Honor‘s closed beta ended recently, leaving legions of virtual warriors with nothing to do but twiddle their thumbs and practise their synchronised warcries. Fortunately, if you missed your chance or want to try the game again, Ubisoft has announced that an open beta is coming soon.
According to a statement on Ubisoft’s blog, the open beta will run from 9 to 12 February, and will bring a new game type. Elimination is a 4v4 duel mode, played to the best of five matches, with no respawns. If you played the closed beta, then Elimination is essentially the 2v2 mode, but with a 100 percent more fighters. Hopefully this will mitigate the problems that Gareth and I had in the closed beta, where the larger matches just turned into gang-warfare curb-stompings when players get outnumbered. Furthermore, the post seems to hint that War of the Factions progress from the beta can be carried over into the final game.
Furthermore, a special celebrity stream kicks off on Twitch on 8 February at midnight, local time. This stream will feature Lauren Cohan, Alfie Allen, Jason Momoa, and UFC Flyweight Champion Demtrious Johnson, duking it out in Elimination mode.
For Honor launches for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, on 14 February. Check out our impressions of the closed beta for more details, and Tarryn raging at historical accuracy.
