Gears of War 4 update adds two new maps, Valentine’s Day event incoming

Just in time to blow up your significant other, Gears of War 4‘s February update is dropping today with two new maps and a whole week of Valentine’s Day love-gibbing with new Gear Packs, daily bounties, and the exploOosive return of Torque Bow Tag “with a Cupid-style twist”. Oh, please let it be a smoochy-smoochy sound when it hits a target.

Both maps are remixes of previous versions, with Dark Impact reworking the game’s Impact launch map now featuring low visibility and up-close-and-personal weapon swaps, plus a re-imagined remake of the original Gears of War‘s War Machine.

“Moving away from the old abandoned train station locale, War Machine is now set in a new COG Settlement, standing out with its pristine appearance and gleaming grandiose features,” explains The Coalition community manager Liam Ashley. “Compared to the original, signs of life are everywhere – from the active DeeBee security bay, to the train sitting at the end of the platform ready to depart.”

The team is also apparently working to bring more series legacy characters into Gears of War 4, including “iconic heroes” from previous games and even some Locust, so that’s rad. I miss Myrrah’s petulant demands that teammates BRING ME MORE AMMUNITION. Like, pick it up yourself, lady. Wait, no, that’s me. BRING ME MORE AMMUNITION.
