Mass Effect: Andromeda will feature “meaningful” side missions

It’s got jetpacks! It’s got alien planets, interstellar pirates, and monsters! It’s got a whole new dialogue system! And now, according to producer Fabrice Condominas, Mass Effect: Andromeda has also got side missions that actually matter, and may or may not involve involve having exotic space sex with lots of exotic space partners.

Talking to PC Gamer, Condominas explained that the team is “approaching the completionist aspect very differently, because we’ve done and learned a lot from [Dragon Age] Inquisition but we’ve also observed what other games have been doing, like The Witcher.”

Describing the game’s side mission design as necessarily “meaningful” in order to be of any real significance in the game,  he added that “it was very important for us that the quantity of scope doesn’t downgrade the quality of whatever your are doing there.” Because, you know, sometimes less is more, and scanning minerals doesn’t even count.

Game’s out on 23 March.
