The Division is getting a free demo version

Next to today’s Last Stand expansion and 1.6 update launch for Tom Clancy’s The Division (I’ll get back to that in a moment), Ubisoft is also dropping a free trial version of the post-apocalyptic fashion sim, including access to the whole co-op campaign and multiplayer for six hours or up to character level eight, and your progress will transfer over if you decide to actually buy the game. The trial version is out now on PC and Xbox One, and will be available on 9 March on PS4.

According to the press stuff, the Last Stand expansion “introduces players to a new way of experiencing the Dark Zone through a session-based adversarial game mode featuring clear objectives and win conditions while incorporating key elements of the Dark Zone such as PvE enemies and landmarks”, and features a team of eight Division Agents versus a team of AI Rogue Agents who must attempt to capture terminals. The DLC also adds a new Incursion mission, “Stolen Signal”.

The expansion is sold separately or bundled as part of the season pass.

Meanwhile, the game’s new update “provides robust, new content for existing players including an expanded Dark Zone map with three new areas unlocked, new Contamination events that take place in an underground location in the Dark Zone, new exotic weapons and landmarks, Dark Zone leaderboards, and the new Legendary mode which provides an increased challenge for the top players”, so that’s also plenty of things to keep you busy until the movie comes out.
