There’s an Avatar game in the works

A new one, I mean, not the one from 2009 that most of us probably forgot ever existed. Anyway, Ubisoft and The Division developer Massive Entertainment are now working on it, presumably because there are, like, 10 million more movies also in production, and you can’t have a big budget movie without the obligatory game to “expand and deepen in the Avatar universe in exciting and innovative ways” like shooting at stuff. It’s the rules.

“James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment changed the way we think about immersive storytelling with the first Avatar. The ambition that they have for the forthcoming films and this game is really inspiring,” said Massive managing director David Polfeldt in the press release. “It’s a privilege to work with them and we’re honoured that they’ve entrusted us to create an experience worthy of the Avatar name.”

There’s also a video about the project, featuring an apparently unironic use of the Papyrus font in 2017.

The next Avatar movie is expected to launch next year, and according to director James Cameron, you’ll “shit yourself with your mouth wide open“. Come on, James. The Human Centipede did that already.
