Meet Orisa. She enjoys oil changes, long patrols on the Numbani payload line, and blowing stuff up. She was made by 11-year old whiz-kid scientist Efi Oladele, using discarded parts from the city’s decommissioned OR15 security bots, and she’s Overwatch‘s new tank hero.
… Not Doomfist.
Already out now on the game’s PC public test servers, Orisa is packing a Fusion Driver long-range automatic projectile cannon with an alt-fire graviton pulse mode that temporarily slows and sucks enemy players into its radius. She also has a Fortify ability to reduce incoming damage and provide immunity from other characters’ crowd-control abilities like Pharah’s Concussive Blast, and a Protective Barrier – somewhat similar to Winston’s Barrier Projector and Reinhardt’s Barrier Field – that can be deployed in front of herself or even allies. Last but not least, her ultimate is a Supercharger that boosts ally damage in her line of sight.
“Orisa is the sixth tank to join the Overwatch lineup, and much like her programming, her gameplay is engineered around protection. She’s built for making a stand with her entire team, and her abilities are geared toward protecting and enabling a group of nearby allies,” Blizzard explains in an update on the game’s website. “Her barrier provides something to hide behind when it’s time to make a push, and her Supercharger ultimate gives her teammates a compelling reason to stay nearby for a coordinated assault.”
A full launch on PC and consoles and expected soon.
