Because what the world needs is another generation of pretentious teens questioning their perceptions of reality like it’s something new and super profound, and not actually a derivative, clichéd remake of Plato’s Most Totally Basic Philosophy 101 Allegory of the Cave with some embarrassing fashion choices.
Don’t let that stop Warner Bros, though. According to an exclusive scoop over on The Hollywood Reporter, sources are claiming that the studio “is in the early stages of developing a relaunch” of the 1999 movie with X-Men: The Last Stand and The Avengers writer Zak Penn attached to the project, and rumours of Fantastic Four‘s Michael B. Jordan to star. Original trilogy directors Lana and Lilly Wachowski are apparently not involved, but after the ostentatious and entirely unmitigated catastrophe that was Jupiter Ascending, why would they be?
Also, what if I told you that the meme-iconic “what if I told you…” line was never even spoken in the movie. That’s some real red pill shit, man.
