As I’ve already moaned about many times, I don’t own an Xbox 360 or an XBO, but if I did, I’d be pretty stoked about Microsoft’s Games with Gold lineup for April. I mean, not as stoked as I would’ve been for Layers of Fear and Borderlands 2 which are included in this month’s roster, but still notably stoked.

April’s first freebie is the Xbox One launch title Ryse: Son of Rome (Available from 1 to 30 April on XBO), which curiously received a far better reception on PC than it did on console. Either way, it’s a solid hack and slash(ish) title, even more so if you pick it up for free. Next up is Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Season 2 (16 April to 15 May on XBO). I absolutely loved the first season, and if spoil Season 2 for me I’ma cut you.

The two Xbox 360 titles (which are both backwards compatible with XBO) for next month are Darksiders (1 to 15 April), “an engrossing and entertaining action game,” and Assassin’s Creed Revelations (16 to 30 April), which is the last game to feature one of the series’ most beloved protagonists.

Here’s a quick look at all four games in action.

As always, in order to participate in the Games with Gold promo, you’ll need to be an active Xbox Live Gold member.
