Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition is a thing, out next month

Well, rattle me bone-box, cutters, here’s a bit of chant. If Torment: Tides of Numenera wasn’t already enough retro RPG nostalgia for a decade, the guys over at Beamdog – the studio perhaps best known for its Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition – have teamed up with original cult-classic Planescape: Torment designer Chris Avellone and announced, wait for it, you’ll never guess, oh, you guessed, Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. I mean, it’s in the headline.

Unlike Beamdog’s previous projects, this new version of the game won’t feature any new content besides the obligatory visual and sound remastering, and revamped interface, plus some edits by Avellone, including “gameplay updates, bug fixes, and enhancements to best capture his original vision for the game”. You’ll also have the option to disable all that dizzy-tickled blek and play the game like it’s 1999 (minus the wonkies, obviously).

It’s out on 11 April.

New Doom: Annihilation trailer reminds us that “it’s not a game anymore” because, you know, it’s a movie
