“… Or Gill? Glenn? Is it…? I don’t know. Something with a ‘g’,” explains Cayde-6. I didn’t quite catch it either, actually. Ghaal? Gaul? Ghaul? Close enough.

Even if they’re not explicitly named in the reveal trailer, it’s obvious that the Cabal will be prominently featured in Destiny 2, and it looks like some characters – including the Vanguards Cayde-6, Zavala, and Ikora Rey – will also be back. More tragically, however, the trailer shows why nobody is starting the sequel with their original Destiny gear. Get your tissues.

“So. Everything is gone. Your stuff. My stuff. Most importantly, my stuff,” laments Cayde-6. But most importantly, my stuff, you asshole. My only consolation is that the Cryptarch was (probably) blown up at the same time.

“It allows us to introduce the major advancements and improvements that all of us expect from a sequel, ensuring it will be the best game we can create, unencumbered by the past,” Bungie previously explained. “We’re looking forward to sharing more details with you later this year for how we will honor your legacy in the future.”

Destiny 2 is out on Xbox One, PS4, and – yes! – PC on 8 September.
