Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s Zombies Chronicles gets a trailer, more details, is pricey

Last week Treyarch finally unveiled Zombies Chronicles, a DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 that includes remastered versions of eight beloved classic zombies maps. Now the developer has finally coughed up all the pack’s details, including some sweet screenshots, bonus content, a spooky trailer, and an even spookier pricetag.

Each of the eight maps included in the pack will be “true HD with current-generation visuals, enhanced lighting, revamped character models and environments” as well as “updated AI and audio systems,” explains the press stuff. “Players will also be able to use custom weapons, including current weaponry featured in Black Ops III that wasn’t featured in the original maps.”

The pack will release first on PS4 on 16 May and will set you back $29.99 (R409). What kind of remastered goodness will you be getting for all that dough? Check out the eerie trailer below.

For a closer look at each map, here are some screenshots along with their official descriptions as listed on the game’s site.

“Welcome to Wittenau Sanitorium, a German asylum with dark corridors, terrifying undead enemies, and even darker secrets.”

Nacht Der Untoten

“Where it all began: an abandoned airfield suspended in space and plagued by infinite hordes of the undead.”

Shi No Numa

“A “swamp of death” located in Japanese territory, surrounded by a sweltering jungle, hellhounds, and endless armies of the undead.”

Kino Der Toten

“An abandoned cinema packed with swarms of Crawler Zombies and fiery traps.”

“An abandoned Soviet Cosmodrome where unholy creations lurk in the shadows, and dark undead experiments run loose.”

“A legendary shrine lost in an exotic jungle where the undead emerge from within a treacherous labyrinth of underground caverns, deadly traps, and dark secrets.”

“Travel to the Moon where forgotten undead creatures plague a horrifying, cratered landscape.”

“An excavation site left behind after the Germans unearthed the mysterious new “Element 115,” and unleashed the greatest evil the world has ever seen.”

Buying the pack will also net you the following bonuses:

  • 20 Vials of Liquid Divinuim
  • 2 All-New, Whimsical Gobble Gums
  • Exclusive Zombies Pack-A-Punch Weapon Camo
  • Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles Dynamic System Theme for PlayStation 4, an exclusive pre-order incentive

I only know what two of those things are, but I’m sure it’s all very exciting. A double XP event kicks off with the launch of the expansion, and all Black Ops 3 players on all platforms will be able to participate. Doing so will also allow you to earn “free loot including Zombies calling cards, weapon camos, new GobbleGums, and PS4 themes”.
