Back in 2012, Dragon’s Dogma sort of came out of nowhere, and delivered a surprisingly engaging and riveting RPG experience set in a massive open world. Also, it allowed players to create a character that was the spitting image of Guts from Berserk, so that was cool. In case you missed it on the previous generation, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be launching onto modern consoles later this year.

The announcement came via Dragon’s Dogma‘s official Twitter, which doth Tweeted:

Although technical details haven’t been revealed, a bunch of screenshots were shown off on Twitter and in a blog post. It’s worth noting that this is the Dark Arisen version, which expanded on the base game and added some new environments.

In, Dragon’s Dogma, your character must track down the dragon that curb-stomped you in the intro and literally stole your heart. The game allows you to create an AI companion called a Pawn, and even hire Pawns created by other players. The combat is fast and brutal, like Devil May Cry, with the ability to scale larger enemies like Shadow of the Colossus.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be launching for PS4 and Xbox One during our spring season, so sometime between September and November. The game is also available on Steam.
