The Overwatch team is teasing… something, with moon gorillas and John Cena

Another week, another cryptic teaser for possible new Overwatch content. The tease once again comes courtesy of Atlas News (the Overwatch universe’s only news outlet), and this time around there’s some stuff about gorillas, a lunar colony, John Cena, and emergency situations.

Blizzard has previously teased upcoming Overwatch content under the Atlas News banner on the game’s official website, including Orisa, the game’s latest hero. So, the latest post is almost definitely pointing towards some form of new game content.

Titled “new details emerge about possible fate of Horizon Lunar Colony,” the post explains that “for the first time in years after Horizon Lunar Colony went offline, new information has been revealed as to the fate of the program”.

“At a press conference today, Lucheng Interstellar revealed the surprising fact that the colony’s databases and monitoring systems are still up and running this day. While no direct communication has been established with the facility, the company has successfully retrieved interpersonal logs sent days and moments before the base lost contact with earth. Below are some of the transmissions Lucheng shared.”

Also included was the following pic, which the post explains is the “first image of the colony’s still-operating integrated monitoring systems”.

We’ll only really know what all this is about when Blizzard makes an official announcement, but the possibilities are more or less as follows: a new moon-themed map, a new event similar to Uprising, a new character, or my own personal best guess, a new animated short covering a certain character’s backstory. After all, we’re just about due for more fantastic Overwatch shorts.
