Almost 13 years after the launch of first game, developer Rebellion has announced Evil Genius 2. An actual, proper sequel that isn’t a rubbish Farmville clone Facebook app this time, I mean.

“We’d like to make this super-duper clear,” the studio explains in the press stuff. “This isn’t a remaster. Evil Genius 2 will be a fully-fledged sequel and it won’t be free-to-play. Our focus currently is on a PC release, but as ever we’ll look at other platforms and see what fits and what doesn’t.”

Development on the project was only started this year, apparently, so it probably won’t be out for a while yet.

For those of you who missed it in 2004, Evil Genius was a management sim somewhat similar to Bullfrog’s genre-defining Dungeon Keeper, tasking players with the day-to-day maintenance and bureaucracy of a supervillain world domination operation. So, kind of like Theme Hospital but with less pretensions of virtue.
