Hold onto your butts, Blizzard is teasing Doomfist (again)

There’s quite a bit of lore surrounding the Doomfist gauntlet and the people who’ve worn it throughout the ages – heck, it was even shown in one of Overwatch‘s earliest animated shorts. But the game’s been out for almost a thousand years now (roughly), and we’re still waiting to see it in action. But that might soon change if Blizzard is teasing what we hope they’re teasing.
According to a new post on the game’s official blog, a while ago (in the Overwatch universe), there was some kind of attack on “Helix Security International’s classified maximum security installation.” The post explains that the culprits responsible have finally been identified as the Talon organisation and that their aim was to free Akande Ogundimu, “better known as Doomfist”.
“It began in the early hours of the morning, when an unidentified aircraft approached the facility. Security initially reported that the craft had no passengers on board, based on radar scans. The craft passed through the range of the installation’s defense systems without incident, leading some to believe that Talon has moles within Helix. Video surveillance from within the compound revealed a black shadowy figure emerging from the craft and descending upon the prison grounds. The unidentified assailant easily overcame the Helix security agents, leaving over a dozen dead. Medical records of the casualties reveal injuries and cellular degeneration matching other incidents involving the mercenary known as the Reaper, all but confirming the incursion as a Talon attack.”
After his escape, Ogundimu resurfaced and caused the damage and destruction as seen in the spawn area of the game’s Numbani map.
It would probably be unwise to take this tease without at least a tiny pinch of salt, but it sure looks like Doomfist’s full announcement might be imminent (again).
