The Duffer brothers’ most must-watch ever, retro-nostalgic TV show is slithering out of the Upside Down for a second season this year, and Netflix has now confirmed a launch date and dropped a portentous new teaser trailer for the show suggesting that the monster problems in the town of Hawkins, Indiana weren’t totally solved the first time around. Who knew? Probably Will.
As previously revealed in its Superbowl trailer debut, the next season of Stranger Things is set around Halloween 1984, sometime after the events of the first season. “Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down,” the synopsis explains, “but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.”

The second season sees the return of most of the original cast, including Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, and Millie Bobby Brown as the next generation Losers’ Club, with Winona Ryder and David Harbour as the town’s only responsible adults, and introduces Sean Astin and Paul Reiser as new characters. We don’t know if Shannon Purser will be back as Barb.
