EA merges BioWare Montreal and Motive Studios

Actually, this isn’t exactly unexpected. Back in May already, some of the Mass Effect: Andromeda team were moved over to Motive Studios as the franchise was put into hypersleep, so this is more like the official “in a relationship” status update on Facebook that everybody totally knew was coming because Stacy saw them kissing in the toilet at the club on Saturday, and Cindy said that Kimmy told her that Kelly is pregnant but she promised not to tell anybody so don’t tell anybody.

Besides its ongoing collaboration with Visceral on its super secret Star Wars project, Motive Studios is also busy with work on Star Wars Battlefront 2, and probably some other stuff too.

“The teams in EA Worldwide Studios are packed with talent, and more than ever, we’re driving collaboration between studios on key projects,” EA told TechRaptor. “With multiple major projects in development in Montreal, we are merging BioWare Montreal with Motive Studios. This is an ongoing process, but there are many exciting roles and opportunities for everyone on the team.”

BioWare’s other Canadian studio in Edmonton is not involved in the Voltronning, apparently, with development on its post-apocalyptic sci-fi not-RPG-but-kind-of-RPG Anthem continuing uninterrupted.
