Kung-fu is going to get hairy in Biomutant

You know what kind of game we need more of? The kind where you play as a sword-wielding, gun-toting, mutating raccoon-thing exploring a post-apocalyptic world, while learning new kung-fu moves. Luckily, we will soon have Biomutant to fill that very specific niche.

Biomutant is in development at Experiment 101, a team lead by an ex-Just Cause developer, with THQ Nordic as the publisher. The game takes place in a densely overgrown world, where mutated animals and plant life have taken over. It’s an open-world, action RPG, where your choices determine the ending, and one of its unique spins is the ability to mutate or augment your hero for new gameplay abilities. This means you could sprout wings, or grow claws, or become a cyborg with robot parts. And besides combat and gunplay, the world will be navigable by a range of vehicles, like paragliders, jet skis, and mechs. Here’s the CGI announcement trailer, courtesy of IGN.

Biomutant is scheduled to launch some time in 2018, and will be battling tooth and nail on PC, PS4, and XBO. If you’re still not sold, just pretend this is the canonical origin story for Rocket Raccoon.
