More than a decade since Age of Empires III launched in 2005, Microsoft has now confirmed that a new sequel is in development exclusively for Windows 10 PC by Homeworld, Company of Heroes,  and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War studio Relic Entertainment. Rogan? Rogan.

“Relic Entertainment has a wealth of experience in creating high-quality RTS games, making them the ideal partner to develop Age of Empires 4,” explains Adam Isgreen, creative director at Microsoft Studios. “We are thrilled to be working with them and can’t wait for fans to see their unique and exciting contribution to the Age of Empires franchise.”

Besides Age of Empires IV, the company has also revealed that the Age of Empires: Definitive Edition (announced at E3) will be out on 19 October, and that Age of Empires II and Age of Empires III are getting the same makeover treatment. So that’s a lot of history repeating itself.
