It’s been a long-established rule that Free Stuff is Good, especially when that free stuff is a competitive first-person action game. Mirage: Arcane Warfare did not receive as warm a reception as its predecessor, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, something that developer Torn Banner Studio acknowledges. In light of this, Mirage can be yours for free and forever, but you’ve got only until this evening to queue it up on Steam.

In a post on Mirage‘s blog, Torn Banner straight up admitted that the game underperformed. The decision to make it free for a day will hopefully bring in boatloads of players, so that everyone who bought the game will have someone to game with. The game will be free until 19:oo local time, and will go back on sale for R109.  Hey, it worked for Brink.

Despite the low launch sales, Mirage: Arcane Warfare was received fairly well by critics, and the game has been well supported with new modes after launch. If you’re interested in slinging spells and chopping heads in a unique Eastern aesthetic, add the game to your Steam library for free, and keep it forever.
