Or something is. It’s all very complicated, apparently, and involves saving the planet from a total apocalypse so that’s going to be an interesting episode.

As previously announced, the eleventh season of the cult-popular sci-fi show features 10 new episodes, including “eight standalone episodes, and two mythology episodes”, according to creator and executive producer Chris Carter. So that’s eight episodes of spooky paranormal events that could probably be explained with otherwise entirely ordinary and rational evidence (… or maybe not), and two episodes with the Cigarette Smoking Man and inscrutable¬†conspiracies¬†to shut down Mulder and Scully’s investigations. Also, their missing kid.

The new season is scheduled to start sometime in January 2018.
