Meet Moira. She’s a genetics engineer who likes covert ops, morally ambiguous experimental technologies, and not getting on the payload, and she’s Overwatch’s new support character. Plus, the new Blizzard World theme park map, which is more or less exactly what you’d expect.
According to her profile on Overwatch’s website, Moira is a biotic wizard of some questionable reputation, and is able to heal allies and teleport. Or, in an actual game scenario, get shouted at for not being everywhere at the same time, jeez, do you even know how to play this game. The new Blizzard World map, which would not have been entirely out of place in one of the company’s notoriously omg-but-why-isn’t-this-actually-a-thing-you-guys April Fools jokes, features fun-sized attractions based on StarCraft, Hearthstone, Diablo, and other Blizzard properties.
Game director Jeff Kaplan introduced the new “OP AF” hero and multi-franchise, mega fan service map at BlizzCon’s opening ceremony over the weekend with trailers and everything.
Moira is the fifth new character to be added to Overwatch’s roster since it launched in June 2016, and will be available on the game’s PC public test servers ahead of a full release on PC and consoles sometime “soon”, while Blizzard World will be out in 2018.
