Now you can buy geometry in Star Citizen for $100

I mean, developer Cloud Imperium Games is marketing it as an ostensibly much more impressive “land claim license”, but it’s polygons. In a game that hasn’t even launched more than three years since it was supposed to, and maybe (… probably) won’t, ever.

According to the product listings on CIG’s website, the land claim licenses are “are being made available for pledging to help fund Star Citizen’s development”, because apparently the $150-something million already in the bank isn’t enough to finish the game. Also, the FAQ explains, you can’t actually claim the land granted by the license until the feature is available in the game, whenever that is (subsequent, obviously, to the inevitable delay on that release date). But it’s okay, guys, because if you don’t have the cash to buy one now, you can purchase it with in-game currency when Star Citizen’s out in 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018.

In the meantime, though, you can watch a gameplay video released over the weekend proving that the gameplay video is real, so I guess that’s something.
