Namco Bandai has revealed that the next expansion for the highly regarded Project Cars 2 will be with us this summer and they’ve called it the Fun Pack. It’s got a few more cars to add to the garage, and new landscaping to carve around, and it’s all got a bit of a rallycross flavour to it.
Focusing on the rallycross discipline is how the Fun Pack earns its name. See, Project Cars 2 is lovely, it’s hardcore, and intense, but to call it fun would be a bit of a push. A Fun Pack for Project Cars 2 sounds as obtuse as a Limited-Slip Differential Upgrade Pack for Mario Kart. Still, here it is, and rallycross is pretty cool, so this might be a Fun Pack after all.
According to the Namco Bandai press release, which I can only assume was penned by the University of Verbose Adjective Overkill’s top scholars, the Project Cars 2 Fun Pack DLC includes the following (and I’ve gone in and pruned the hell out of their paragraphs because otherwise we’ll be here all day with our thesauruses and a bucket for the enthusiastic spit):
Two new tracks:
Brands Hatch Rallycross Historic circuit
Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya Rallycross
Eight new cars:
Matthias Ekstrom’s Audi S1 EKS RX quattro
Petter Solberg’s Citroën DS3 RX Supercar
Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s 1969 Ford Bronco “Brocky”
Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s Ford Mustang RTR Spec – 5D
Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s Mustang ’66 RTR
Ford RS200 Evolution
Renault R5 Maxi Turbo
Audi Sport Quattro S1
I’m going to be brutally honest here, so don’t judge me, but there’s a lot of excited hyperbole in that press release, and I may be misreading some of it. But I think I’ve just about got it under control. The Project Cars 2 Fun Pack DLC will be out later this summer and is included as part of the season pass content.
