Assassin’s Creed Origins’ December update includes Nightmare mode, new quests, and more

Ubisoft has really done well to position Assassin’s Creed Origins as the game that keeps on giving, and looking at the December schedule, that doesn’t look like it’s going to change any time soon. This month, Bayek’s stabbing adventure will have a new Nightmare difficulty level added, a Horde mode quest, a new Trial of the Gods and, and, and the list, as you’ll see below, goes on and on.

Nightmare mode, one of the headline features of Ubisoft’s December title update, makes enemies more resilient and more dangerous, according to the update notes. Players will now also be able to activate enemy scaling, which will automatically scale the lower level enemies to your level.

The Horde mode, entitled Here Comes a New Challenger, pits your noble assassin against endless waves of enemies in the Cyrene arena. There’s also an untitled surprise quest which Ubisoft is keeping under wraps for some reason. Perhaps a Santa Clause kill quest? We can only dream.

If you got stuck in with the Trials of the Gods last month, you’ll probably want to finish the fight by taking on Sekhmet in December, while those of you who didn’t get around to battling Anubis and Sobek in November can now take on all three deities this month. Which is nice, because timed events are a bit of a hassle for those of us with busy schedules. Or social lives.

The in-game store will have a few new additions through December too, with the Gladiator Items Pack on 12 December, and the Wacky Items Pack landing on Boxing Day. The details are waiting for you in that link up there in the second paragraph. Fine, here it is again. Lazy buggers.

So, that’s about your lot for the month. Not a bad haul, ‘ey?
