Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is Adventure Time with pirates and it sets sail in 2018
The glorious madness of Adventure Time is yet to be properly captured in video game format, but we might be onto a winner with the upcoming Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion. It’s an open world adventure starring your favourite characters from the show, and presumably the sometimes twisted humour that makes Finn and Jake’s adventures so… unique.
It’s under development by Climax Studios, a British developer who’s previous work includes a Silent Hill or two, a few ports, a smattering of VR stuff, but probably little that you would have played. But let’s give the team the benefit of the doubt, shall we? Set in the recently flooded world of Ooo, Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion puts our heroes on a boat, traveling between kingdoms, collecting loot, and trying to solve the whole “Why is the world of Ooo under water?” mystery.
They’re calling it fast-paced tactical combat, but that’s a pretty big pigeonhole when it comes to genre identity, so who knows. Perhaps something like Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, but instead of swashbuckling awesomeness, expect technicolour weirdness. But still awesome, if they can recreate the left-field nature of the series.
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS and PC in Autumn 2018. In the meantime, head over to the Outright Games facebook page, where they will be running a competition to name Finn and Jake’s boat. Do us proud, NAG readers.
