There’s an all-you-can-eat buffet of free Halo 5: Guardians this weekend for Xbox Live Gold subscribers

It’s almost 5PM, so I’ll keep this brief: if you’re an Xbox Live Gold subscriber – and you really should be, if you’re an Xbox gamer – then you will be able to play Halo 5: Guardians for free this weekend, as revealed via Xbox Wire.

It’s the full package too, including the campaign and full multiplayer suite, and if you like it you can put your money where your mouth is and buy it for 20% less than the standard price. You’ll have access to all the post-launch content, all the everything, all weekend long to help you decide if it’s worth owning for keeps.

Halo 5: Guardians is also considered a true show of force for the power of the Xbox One X.

“Welcome to the new face of Halo 5 on Microsoft’s new six-teraflop console,” said the Eurogamer folk. “The blurry mask is peeled back, revealing the full beauty of the original game. It’s a revelatory improvement and the remarkable reality is that 343’s 4K patch doesn’t seem to offer huge improvements to core asset quality. There are some tweaks, improvements and refinements, but the fact is that by increasing resolution and texture filtering quality alone, the game is massively transformed, its inner beauty finally revealed”

So, if you’ve got the hardware to do it justice, you really should give it a go this weekend.
