Stardew Valley’s co-op multiplayer will support local and online play so you’ve got options when you need to squabble about rocks and fish and who gets to marry Sebastian

I mean, I already married Sebastian so that’s kind of irrelevant, but apparently you’ll also be able to marry other players in the game, so maybe I’d reconsider my options. What’s the situation with the rocks and fish, guys? Because equitable division of chores is important in a relationship, and I’m busy… with… other… stuff.

Co-op multiplayer for up to four people has been in the upcoming features list for the game for some time already, and now according to Stardew Valley developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, it “still needs some work, but the underlying network code is solid”. Also, there’s a flamingo in the screenshot he posted on Twitter, so that’s cause for hype and speculation.

Stardew Valley is a farming game, but it’s also one of the most madly compelling games I’ve ever played, and with co-op multiplayer, it could even be the next Overcooked. Gasp.
