At long last we have an official release date for God of War 4, slapped at the end of a new trailer which has basically single-handedly made me want to buy a PlayStation 4 for the first time in my life. The fact that this impossibly beautiful game is coming out on my birthday makes for an even more compelling argument for me to give Sony a medium-sized pile of money. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, the next chapter in the God of War saga will be out on 20 April, and it’s looking amazing.
Look at that. Look at it! It’s like Gladiator meets Thor meets something about massive monsters, and creepy wraiths, and romance, and family intrigue, and everything ever rolled into one. We see Kratos struggling to balance his relationship with his demons and his son, who is struggling to come to terms with the hidden truth of who he is. We see gargantuan beasts ravaging the world. We see death, sadness, emotion, and more beasts.
Crafting impressive game trailers is an art, and Santa Monica Studio, you did good. I’m blown away, figuratively speaking. Right, so, PlayStation 4 gamers, you’ve got three months to wait. Everyone else, you’ve got three months to save up to buy a PlayStation 4.
