Fair play to EA DICE – after Star Wars Battlefront 2 got a caning upon release, the developer embarked on an epic quest to make us all stop complaining. We won’t stop complaining, ever, but you’ve got to admit that EA DICE has put in some serious effort. As a case in point, patch 1.2 has just been released, and it fixes more things than you could ever have imagined were broken to begin with, and adds a few nice bonus features at the same time.
The new game mode has to be the headline feature here, but sadly it’s only going to be available for a limited time. It’s called Jetpack Cargo, and it sounds like multiplayer shooter heaven: everyone’s got a jetpack and a rocket launcher. That’s really all we need to know, right? I’m in.
Next up we have a set of new hero skins – also for a limited time only – for Han, Luke and Leia, based on the latest fashion trends from the chilly catwalks of Hoth. Other than that, the Custom Arcade locale roster has been given a boost with the addition of Kashyyyk, Hoth, Endor, Crait, Jakku, and Death Star II. Lastly each player will now get two new default emotes right from the start.
Now, about those fixes, tweaks and balance checks. EA DICE has given the game a serious going over, resulting in a change log the length of a bloody Super Star Destroyer (from fuselage ion cannon all the way to that pointy bit at the back). Heroes are now more heroic, villains are now more villainous, and everything else has been given a solid seeing to as well.
The full patch notes are here, so if you’ve got a particular concern that maybe Captain Bigjobs’ helmet is too shiny, or the Spankmaster’s Wifflebat attack is overpowered, give it a read and check if your problem has been rectified.
