Confirming rumours from last week, music streaming service Spotify has launched in South Africa, with a special ZA URL and apps available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Microsoft Store, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, smart TVs, and maybe even microwaves, and no VPN required. Naas.

The service features free, ad-supINTERportedRUPTED and R59.99 per month premium, zero-ad subscriptions, which is substantially cheaper than the $9.99 per month (approximately R120) cost in US dollars, but about the same as a single-user Google Play subscription. Unless I’m missing something, Spotify doesn’t have a multi-user plan for whatever reason, though, so that’s a bummer.
