The word on the street is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is being remastered for current generation consoles, just like its predecessor was at the tail end of 2016. Not like its predecessor’s remaster, though, is the rumour that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will feature the campaign only, with no multiplayer component at all.
The rumour was sparked by an Amazon Italy listing which showed up last week, pricing the game at €19.99 (R291.50) and setting it for release on 30 April. That price makes it significantly cheaper than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was, which could be due to the much adored multiplayer suite being AWOL this time.
Sources are saying that Raven Software – the team behind the previous remastering – is not on the job this time, but there is speculation that Canadian developer Beenox could be behind this year’s release. Beenox has experience with the Call of Duty brand, and recent job listings posted by the developer could point to a project of this scale. Still, all of this is rumour right now, so we’ll have to wait for Activision to give us a straight answer.
