Netflix was looking for an antique jewellery shop, has on knee and elbow pads, and is making a live-action Carmen Sandiego movie

Netflix has apparently acquired the rights to make a live-action movie based on Brøderbund’s retro-classic edutainment game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, with a Crime Net warrant issued for Deepwater Horizon and Annihilation star Gina Rodriguez as the primary suspect.

According to a report over on Deadline, Rodriguez is also signed on to produce the movie with Kevin Misher and Caroline Fraser, but for now, no writer or director is attached to the project. We can probably assume, however, that it’s about a kid detective who must use mom’s World Book collection Wikipedia to solve ambiguous clues about geography and local cuisine to find and apprehend V.I.L.E. boss Carmen Sandiego. Or something like that.

This isn’t actually Netflix’s only Carmen Sandiego deal – last year, the streaming service announced its own animated TV show adaptation of the game series, also featuring Gina Rodriguez, expected to debut sometime in 2019. So she’s going to be in two places at the same time? SHE’S ALWAYS ONE STEP AHEAD OF US, GUMSHOES.
