Amazon Mexico jumped the gun recently, revealing the official title for the previously rumoured Spyro remastered trilogy, as well as a 21 September release date and a look at the decidedly dodgy box art for the PS4 release. It wasn’t long before Amazon India did the same, this time outing the existence of an Xbox One version too, along with a handful of screenshots.
As the box art says, the Reignited Trilogy will feature remasters of the original three games, so that’s Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Going by the screenshots, captured by Twitter user Nibel, it’s looking delightful. This is clearly not your lazy “crank it up to 4K and slap a new price on it” affair – Spyro and his surrounding landscapes have been completely recreated with “breathtaking graphical updates and improved gameplay controls” according to the original Amazon listing, which has since been removed.
Activision is yet to speak out about all of this, but since so much has been leaked already you would imagine we will be hearing something official from the publisher very soon.
