Ghost Recon Wildlands is free to play this weekend, and heavily discounted if you want to keep it

It may be laced with brainless machismo, but I love Ghost Recon Wildlands, and so I’m making it my duty to point out to all of you that Ubisoft’s open-world drug busting action extravaganza is going to be free all weekend on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Those of you in South Africa will be able to lock ‘n load from 9AM on Thursday morning (if my deciphering of the international time quantum factor things is correct), and the party ends at about the same time on Monday. Xbox One users will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play, as well as to capitalise on the discount, while PS4 gamers can get involved even without a PS Plus subscription. PC users will be able to take part via both Steam and Uplay.

It’s the full package, too – that means PvP, campaign, and even the new Special Operations mission starring the legendary Sam Fisher will all be playable all weekend. And then, once you have realised that Ghost Recon Wildlands is far more enthralling than that 7/10 score you have floating around in your head, you can (and should) buy it for 67% less than the usual price, across all versions.
