Halo 5 and Skyrim: Special Edition are free to play this weekend on Xbox One, so cancel your plans

Steve’s dinner party? Nope. Work function? Not a chance. Aunt Patricia’s funeral? Sadly not. All your weekend plans are now cancelled, because it’s Skyrim time, and Halo 5 time, this weekend, all weekend. That’s right, two of the biggest time sinks in gaming are free to play until Sunday on Xbox One.

I haven’t yet taken the Xbox One X Enhanced version of Halo 5 for a spin, but general opinion is that it’s one of the best showcases of an X enhanced title available, so if you’ve got Microsoft’s surprisingly heavy black box of savage power under your TV, and if that TV is a 4K TV, you’re in for a treat.

As for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, this weekend you’ll be up to your neck in dragons, swords, and beards, and if you haven’t wandered the halls of Dragonsreach or downed a pint in Solitude since the game was remastered for current gen consoles, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Yes, it’s the same game, but so much prettier, and it includes the three official expansions too.

Your weekend is now officially sorted, and it’s time for some serious hibernation. Just make sure you’re a paid up Xbox Live Gold subscriber, or you’ll be left out.
