There is a great disturbance in the Force as Star Wars Battlefront 2’s new microtransactions go live

As expected, EA has re-introduced microtransactions to the game, but this time it’s different because they’re cosmetic microtransactions and 67 buckazoids for a Weequay Resistance skin is a total deal even in Mos Eisley.

The 50-something new custom skins include variations of Leia, Han Solo, Chewie, Rey, and Kylo Ren (but not pink Vader), and can be purchased with in-game credits or sold-separately Crystals, available in denominations of 4400 (R529), 2100 (R269), 1000 (R135), and 500 (R67). If you’re going to cheap out with in-game credits, though, cancel your other plans this weekend – with prices starting at 5,000 for some lame-o alien and up to 40,000 for heroes, with an average cash-in of about 500 credits per game, that’s… a lot of games. But, you know, probably more fun than lunch with your in-laws anyway.

The dress-up stuff dropped next to Star Wars Battlefront 2’s time-limited Night on Endor event, featuring a new Ewok Hunt game mode in which, for the first time in the series, you can actually murder those smug fuzzy assholes. So that’s more incentive too.
