First announced back in 2016, the movie adaptation of Ubisoft’s post-apocalyptic fashion sim The Division starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain now also has Deadpool 2 director David Leitch on its credit list. So I guess this means it hasn’t been cancelled yet.

Leitch’s directorial resume also includes John Wick and Atomic Blonde, but he’s been in the acting and stunt business since 2002, making his debut in Paris Hilton’s budget-bin horror Nine Lives. Everybody makes mistakes.

We don’t know much about the movie’s plot besides the “countless stories of love, loss, treachery, and heroism” that were apparently dropped the game’s pandemic panic narrative, but according to Variety, Gyllenhaal and Chastain “have been persistent in making sure that it matches the tone of the video game”. Expect a tense climactic battle for a purple puffer jacket.
