As we march towards Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire’s release next month, Obsidian has revealed the post-launch content planned for the upcoming RPG, with three expansions lined up for release from July to November this year.
The DLC road map starts with the Beast of Winter expansion, sending your party to an island where one of those sketchy doomsday cults is getting up to no good. There you’ll deal with an ancient secret (obviously), a mysterious dimension, and devilish challenges. The Beast of Winter DLC will be with us in July.
The September offering, titled Seeker, Slayer, Survivor, will be more combat-oriented, with your party facing off against skilled, savage adversaries while poking around for ancient relics on yet another island. I’m sure island life is supposed to feature a lot more bikinis and drinks sipped out of coconuts, and less swords and death? Still, should be fun. Just not the kind of fun I imagine when someone says “Our party is off to an undiscovered island”.
Closing the planned DLC trilogy is The Forgotten Sanctum, which is all about wizards, moral ambiguity, and big decisions to be made with far reaching repercussions. This final expansion arrives in November. The three DLC packs will be available individually, or as part of the Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire season pass.
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire will be launched on 8 May for you PC master race types, while console gamers will have to wait until later this year.
