Rockstar has opened its corral and released a buckin’ new trailer for cowboy-’em-up sequel Red Dead Redemption 2, featuring a company of ne’er do gooders ne’er doin’ good, and – oh, who’s that? I think I recognise this one, sheriff.
Why now, it’s John Marston, protagonist of the original Red Dead Redemption. Only, he’s prettier ’cause he’s younger-like, this bein’ back about 12 years before that bloodied ball o’ yarn. He were runnin’ with Dutch at the time, weren’t he? He sure were. Mayhaps we’ll find out how that went crooked.
In the sequel-prequel, however, you’ll be stepping into the dusty boots of bandit debt collector Arthur Morgan, who’s on the skedaddle from the law with the Van der Linde gang after a heist in Blackwater goes wrong.
“With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive,” a new what’s what explains. “As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”
The game’s giddied up for launch on 26 October on Xbox One and PS4, but no PC version has been confirmed for the moment.
