We are still reeling from the news that Metro Exodus has been shifted into next year, and now we’ve been informed that Shenmue 3 – another title from the same publisher – won’t be happening this year either. Deep Silver is clearly hard at work to make sure that 2019 is awesome, at the expense of 2018 being slightly crap.

That intro was a bit misleading. There’s a good chance that Shenmue 3 will be a bit crap, and thus won’t be helping much to make 2019 awesome.

“Deep Silver today announce that their upcoming release Shenmue 3 has been moved and will now release in 2019,” said the official statement. “The extra time will be used to polish the quality of the game even further, to the high standards it deserves and release the product in the best possible timeframe.”

Ah, good old polish.

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise though, as the game has been looking decidedly unpolished so far, and we’re getting worryingly deep into 2018 for any game with a “Coming in 2018!” tag attached to it.
